Dalton Post Office. Caption reads: "Post Office, Dalton, Ga." View is from intersection of Hamilton Street and Crawford Street showing the front entrance and right side of building. The brick construction Post Office is constructed to mimic the design of Independence Hall in Philadelphia. The Joseph E. Johnston statue is in the foreground. A 1920s era automobile is turning on to Hamilton Street from Crawford Street. A columned cupola adorns the center of the roof and a chimney is to the left of the cupola. An American flag is flying from a flagpole.Two "globe" lights flank the steps to the main entrance. Arched windows flank the front door which is also surrmounted by an arched window. A streetlamp is on the corner next to a mailbox. Bank of Dalton building and other Dalton businesses are visible to the left of the Post Office. |
