Description |
Whitfield County Courthouse. "Greetings from Dalton, Georgia" printed in red script on bottom of image. Description on reverse reads: "Whitfield County Court House, Dalton, Georgia. The contemporary design of this building is a symbol of the progressive, forward-looking atmosphere of this friendly city.". View is of main entrance to courthouse. Elevated concrete walkway leads to main entryway. "Honeycomb" style facade covers windows of offices and court rooms. Five dome-shaped window skylights provide an additional style element as well as additional interior lighting. The marble section above the main entrance is decorated with a symbolic community represntation and the words "Whitfield County." An American flag flies from a pole in front of the courthouse. 1960s era automobiles are parked on the street in front of the building. Courthouse designed by Abreu & Roberson Architects and constructed in 1961 by T.L. Kiker Construction. |
