October 24, 1912 dedication ceremony of the General Joseph E. Johnston statue in Dalton, Georgia. Men in suits and women wearing large, often flowered hats, crowd into Crawford Street during the ceremony. The throng surrounds the dais that the sculptor Belle Kinney stands upon while making her dedicatory remarks. Confederate flags and banners decorate the scene.
